A culinary educational journey through Sicily

How are olives actually grown, harvested and processed into olive oil? How do almonds grow, what varieties are there and what is the scent of their blossoms? How do you make ‘granita di limone’ and how did this type of preparation come about? What is a ‘cedro’ and how is it best eaten? How are dried tomatoes made and how do capers grow? What herbs can you find in the natural slopes of the Sicilian countryside?

There is an endless amount to discover in Sicily, and so you can find the answers to all these questions with a trip through Sicily. A visit to the olive groves that grow il circolo’s olives around Noto, the site of the almond transformation of Fiereleque near Modica can be arranged with an email to us, and make a good start to the trip. Visiting the restaurant ‘U locale’ near Buccheri, you can taste the best ‘granita di limone’ and learn all about its history and the history of ice cream in Sicily. If you ask the right questions to the local people along the way, you will always meet people who will proudly explain and show you everything, and quite often let you taste their wonderful products. Just make a nice voucher promising the answers to all these questions. Or book the ferry from Genoa to Palermo, or a plane ticket and give it as a gift.
